You can come to Streetwise for counselling if you are between the ages of 11 - 25. If you are under 13 we normally need your parent or carers permission first. Below you will find information about how counselling works and how to make an appointment.

How does counselling work?

Counselling is one way to help you work through any problems or concerns.

It is an opportunity to talk to someone outside your family and friends and therefore not involved in you life, to talk to someone, who will accept, listen and respect what you share.

The counsellor will try to see the problems from your point of view, and they will look together with you at the choices available to you and they will support you to make decisions that you feel are right for you.

What can I talk to my counsellor about?

You can talk about whatever it concerns you, however small or big your problem/issue seems to be. You can talk about whatever is going on in your life, for example things that might make you angry, sad or helpless or relationships that confuse and cause problems to you.

In counselling you can talk about things that happened in the past, things that affect you now or worries about the future.
